VAN MAHOTSAV 2014
The students of St Joseph H/S Pernem celebrated The Van Mahotsav festival throughout the first week of July 2014. The "Thought For The Day" and articles based on Van Mahotsav were read out by the students in the morning school assembly. To make the students aware of their environment and the need to protect our environment, collage making and drawing competitions were organised for classes VIII to X and topic was "SAVE TREES AND SAVE NATURAL RESOURCES".
On the last day of the Van Mahatsov i.e 6th July, Tr. Milan addressed the students in the morning assembly. She appealled to the students to plant atleast one tree on the Occasion of Van Mohatsav and nurture it. She further said that trees have been man's friend since times immemorial. Trees keep our nature green and clean by giving us oxygen and taking Carbon dioxide from air.
After the morning assembly tree plantation programme was undertaken in the school campus by the students of Std V, Std VIII and Std IX under the guidance of Tr. Ernest and Tr. Soniya. To mark the closing of the Van Mahotsav festival the Sciencer lab assistant Mr. Michel organised a small programme in the school hall where the potted plants and collage prepared by the students were on the display. Speaking on this occasion the Headmaster Mr. Rodney Pereira appreciated the effots and the creativity among the students in the making of collage and potted plants. He then gave away the saplings of forest trees to the students.
The secondary students, Tr. Costancio, Tr. Maria, Tr. Kalpana, Tr. Sharon, and Tr. Mahesh along with the science faculty, were present on this occasion. The celebration of Van Mahotsav was a grand success.
